| It's a long one! 02/08 Midday Just a “simple†question >> fails memtest86+ before it gets past approx. 55% of the first but yet the system runs Super Pi without a hitch (32M 00hr 39m 53s), ran stresscpu for 4000+ Tflops no issue, and ran Prime95 for 3+ hours and no issue so what is the options? ![]() Used to going the other "direction", fails Prime start by doing memtest........... The memory in question is a set of g. skill F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX I picked up for another system and being tested in an ocÂ’ed system that was running the 2 x 512 version (F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX). The settings for this system were not changed as I thought the timings were the same. As it turns out they arenÂ’t but very close. The 1GB set is 2.5-3-3-6 (newegg says 2-3-3-6?) and the 2GB set is 2-3-3-6 (newegg says 2-3-2-5?) The System: Enermax EG465P-VEFCA 450W ABIT NF7-S rev2 AMD Sempron 3000+ @ 2.4 GHz PNY 6800GT 2 x 512 F1-3200PHU2-1GBZX (testing 2 x 1024 F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX) ASUS 52X CD-ROM TDK Indi DVD+880 DVD+RW 80Gb Maxtor DiamondMax9 7200 IDE 160Gb Maxtor DiamondMax9 7200 IDE 160Gb Maxtor DiamondMax9 7200 SATA MS Windows XP Pro w/SP2 CPU - External Clock - 200 MHz CPU - Multiplier Factor – x12.0 CPU FSB/Dram ratio – 6/6 (400 MHz) CPU Core Voltage – 1.775v DDR SDRAM Voltage – 2.70v Row-active delay - 11 RAS-to-CAS delay - 3 Row-precharge delay - 3 CAS Latency Time – 2.5 02/08 Late – 02/09 Real Early For checking the slots on the mobo, I ran memtest with the 2 x 512 set that originally were on the board. These seem to do okay, as I was able to get quite far and stopped the test. Now I testing each of the 1 x 1024 sticks individually and to “clear the playing field†a settings have been returned to “normalÂâ€. It could be the 2GB set do not like the oc settings of the 1GB set. And again the more I play the less I realize I understand. While playing around like I understand memory IÂ’ve forgotten about the “1T / 2TÂ’ part. Anyone want to clue me in on how to check and/or change these settings and what they do for me? 02/09 Midmorning CPU - External Clock - 180 MHz CPU - Multiplier Factor – x12.0 CPU FSB/Dram ratio – 6/6 (400 MHz) CPU Core Voltage – 1.775v DDR SDRAM Voltage – 2.70v Row-active delay - 6 RAS-to-CAS delay - 3 Row-precharge delay - 3 CAS Latency Time – 2 Runs memtest86+ with no issues >> move FSB to 185 = cmos jumper time! ![]() | ||

DUMB!!! DUMB!!! EVEN DUMBER!!!! It seems I may have left the memtest bootalble disk in when I rebooted to reset the bios. Currently running memtest @ 185FSB Still open for suggestions, chastisements, or whatevers. EDIT @ 13:59 Memtest failed test 5 big time! Just as a shot in the dark reset timings to 2.5-3-3-9 and left it @ 185fsb. Last edited by jedihobbit; 09-February-07 at 02:03 PM.. | ||
