Default help with picking some good ram

Well now that it comes the time for me to build a new rig, and of coures i need some recomendations from you guys.

i will be taking an opteron 146 up to 3 ghz, so the fsb is gonna be 300mhz. i dont know what i will do with the dividers, but all i need is a good 1gb kit, with good timings that wont break the bank. and im looking for the kit to be around $150. i will be running it all on an Asus A8R32-MVP deluxe, and the max vdimm is 3.2, although that should be enough for most ram.

i was looking around on newegg etc, but am not sure if it is worth shelling out for certain stics if i can get just as fast with a cheeper set.

any suggestions are helpfull.

It's hard to know how far the cheaper stuff will go...you need to find RAM with the right chips. Xtremesystems has a huge list of RAM you can purchase, in which the specific chips are identified. TCCD and TCC5 from Samsung are good chips, as well as Winbond BH/CH 5/6 mems.

This ram will do 250Mhz Plus @ 2-2-2-5 Just need voltage to get it there! And heard of ppl hitting DDR 600 With it with loose timmings! Ive ram it at 265 @ 2-2-2-5 with 3.6V just for a benchmark

This was a little bit before Xmas so i dont know if its still kicking azz or not! This use to be OCZ's BH-5

That looks to be TCCD because of the voltage and timings. Good stuff, but really needs tweaking to get stable.

thanks for the recomendation matt, but unfortunaly the max voltage for this board is 3.2v, could its work with 3.2, i hear bh5 is power hungry

zaltan, thanks for the idea, can you give me any first hand experiences or reviews?

thanks ator, the list is a gread idea.
