Default Gskill or OCZ?

My setup currently looks like:
Opteron 148 (overclocking)
DFI Expert
7800 GT

I want some good RAM with this setup. I've heard bad things about corsair and the DFI mobos. I want 2gbs, would it be better to get 4 sticks of 512, or 2 1gig?

If anyone has any direct model suggestions, please don't hesitate.

Thanks in advance.

2x1GB would be better, because filling all 4 slots will put too much strain on the memory controller, forcing the command timing to 2T. You'll lose a large chunk of memory bandwidth this way.

I would recommend OCZ, but G.Skill is just as good for less price. OCZ's heat spreaders look so much better, not to mention their lifetime warranty and overvoltage protection (for OC'ing), among other things.

For sheer overclocking potential and high 1:1 FSB/RAM speeds, G.Skill all the way

GSKILL is great until you need to RMA it, they have realy poor customer support.

Get the OCZ, they have great customer service and they are as fast or faster than GSKILL in most cases.

Thanks guys, I've been debating an upgrade to 2x1GB DDR500 and I narrowed it down to the cheaper G.Skill and OCZ. The problem was I couldn't find much info on G.Skill

I think I'll go with the G.Skill and RMA to Newegg if anything goes wrong.

Great choice. You won't be disappointed.

What model did you go with exactly?
