RAM Question! *timings* *help*

My friend got a hold of 2 sticks of OCZ PC 400 512MBDDR Gold Edtion ram and since I am not to keen on ram timings and all the details, can someone please explain to me what the timing on a ram is? does? and if his timing is good...

the stock timing on this ram is:
2.5-4-4-7

P.S. just to make sure, will this ram be compatible for a dfi lanparty nforce 4?

With those timings, you probably mean PC4000 which is DDR 500. Although there is RAM at that speed with better timings, those are about average. Yes, it would work fine with a LP board.
