Default Mini-Guide: Chieftech Drive Rails, Enlight Case

Well, you just came home from the swap meet with that impressive old desktop/rackmount monster/server tower, but someone pilfered the drive rails.

And worse yet, it's not the bog-standard Chieftech Dragon/Antec SX1000/etc! It's an Enlight case!

Salvation is at hand.

1. Grab some Chieftech/Antec drive rails.

2. Pull the little "tab" that retains the metal clip, remove metal clip.

3. Put the drive rail on, backwards, so the open part faces back.

The Chieftech rails are as wide as the Enlight opening, so fit relies on having the Chieftech rail hang on the edge of the opening. The drive's probably 1-2mm higher than it would be with a real rail, but it doesn't seem a huge issue.

So now you have a rail that will successfully fit the drive, except it slides back about 1cm beyond the face. So add a "retention feature"

4. Retrieve the metal clips.

5. Bend them into L shapes. The side that doesn't have holes for screws should be about 1.5cm long. This is not an exact science, but shorter gives you flexibility, while longer will result in the drive sticking out of the front of the case.

6. Bolt them between the rail and the drive itself.

7. If (not fitting) goto 5

8. Remove extra metal clip as needed so the cover will cover. Tinsnips make it easy.

9. Cancel crisis.
