Default Sharpie Marker Trick

Well I just stenciled on a design to my case with pencil, then went over it with sharpie only to realize I had put it on vertically rather than horizontally. DOH!! Luckily there is a trick to remove permanent marker from metal. If you ever find yourself in this situation, just take an ordinary dry-erase white board marker and go over the sharpie with it. Go over a small part then just whipe off with a paper towel. Repeat, doing small sections at a time, until the entire design is gone. Nifty trick!

That's pretty wild.
I know alcohol works well, too. At least on plastic. I have a CD player that I got people to sign with my sharpie. Well, this guy who I really don't like wanted to sign it and I didn't want to be nasty so I just used a q-tip and some alcohol to remove it.

What? Help me out here. You mean that the alcohol obviously works? Or that I don't like the guy? Or the q-tip is small?

Like whomever you do or not.
Just going the extra lenght to eradicate that indivdule from your sight is a bit exstream.
Whether you see his sig or not he will be in you memory for a long long time.

The tip on cleaning up sharpie marks is a good one.

I have not tryed it but a frind of mine says if you get sharpie on clothes Hair Spray can get it out?

She said once you find the mark on your clothes just spray it with hair spray until it is saturated.
Then just toss it into the wash as normal and WA LA.. magic happens.

That's not dangerous? I mean, yeah, hairspary gets on clothing real easy, but like, excesive spray? There's warnings on the washing machine. I don't know if those apply. But if it works, that's also a neat trick!
...and yeah, I guess I did go a little far taking his signature off. But most of the time he irritates me. Between getting a 79 in physics by not showing up to go smoke up and bragging about the different types of drugs he's done. Grrr. His sig went over another one. And I really liked that one. When he saw it again, he asked if he could sign it.
"Uhh, didn't you already?"
"Hah! I don't think so."
"Umm, ok. DO you have a sharpie?"
"Damn! I don't"
then he goes off to break a wood ruler while the class is reading because he was bored.
Sorry, that was long.

I know it's an old topic, but the best thing to remove Sharpie ink is good ol' rubbing alcohol. It works on both metal and acrylic.

Acetone works when alcohol doesn't. I use it to clean stickers and thermal goo off stuff.

I wouldn't use acetone on acrylic, though...it'll melt it. That's how you make acrylic cement: acrylic + acetone.

Hmmm really Coel? The first thing I tried (way back when I found this out), way Isopropyl 80%. I found this trick out from my mom (who is a elementary school teacher) who has to deal with kids that right on whiteboards with sharpies after the Isopropyl didn't work.

I've been using rubbing alcohol for over 5 years to remove Sharpie ink from either metal or plastics (bezels, acrylic, plexiglass). Only if the ink is left on that grey metal you find in your computer chassis for a long period, will the rubbing alcohol have a little more difficulty, but it always gets it off. I don't know about whiteboard surfaces, though. I've never worked on a computer that had that kind of surface.
