Default u-trim alternative

hey i dont know if many people know this but i for one have just found this out.

instead of buying that u-trim moulding thas something like 3 buxs a foot to trim off a blow whole or just freshen up an edge. Instead get some coaxial cable and take that thin layer of coating thats on their off. It works amazingly well to hide your crappy cuts or just to give some life to your holes. all u gotta do is just take a razor blade and slice down the center of the cord where the writing is so that part is towards the back just make sure that your cuts are straight and your good to go. For all of you that knew this your damn smart people and for those who didn't go check around and you'll find lots of neet stuff

Any kind of coated wire will work. If you have CAT5 cable laying around some of it is in different colors which can really make what your triming look nice.........

sorry man i dont have a camera if i did id post a pic sorry..
what i mean by the sleeving is the rubber like coating over top of the plastic coating covering the actuall cable if u cut that off and take out the metal reinforcements, which is like a weave like pattern then thas ur molding. and any wire will work like aaron said. you can also use differant gauges too just coaxial cable everyone knows about so their for easiest..
and welcome to PR if u need any help u know where we are....look at me im a poet

Not just coax cable but any cable with sleeving might work.....Look around you might find something better.

Great idea, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I did this with some el cheapo clear/neon red speaker wire from WalMart for the "Adult Entertainment" case... to cut it easier I just found a table with a foldout wing, jammed the wire in the joint and attacked it with a Xacto... It is suprisingly good looking, but it is just a tad hard to install... Wish I had pics... Maybe when I get back from vacation...

Metku did this a long time back in his window guide. Good idea nonetheless, you have a lot more color options with wire IMO.

Default cable

I took your idea , a good one i must say, but i used video line , you know the kind , goes from your tv to vcr, dvd etc. has yellow red and white conectors , being that its about half the width of cable . it does better on corners and bends , .oh nice cut on the top blow hole , but bottom one kinda looks like charlie browns head.>>Mike

umm how about using vacuum(spelling?) line from cars? its like 20 cents a foot, and comes in all types of sizes and colors (and its made from very pliable rubber) they have it at autozone, O'reilys car quest, and so on....

I can now see myself running around to different car stores looking for odds and ends. Leaving the clerk there in the aisle with a stupid dumbfounded look on their face.

"Excuse me sir can I help you? What kind of car are you fixing?"
"Sorry it's not for a car. I'm not pimpin' my ride I'm pipmin' my rig."

Isn't that really the point of modding. Making something into something else by using odd materials. To me it is.

That's exactly the way I feel when I go to the home renovation store. I'll pick up a brushed aluminum drawer handle, a curved PVC elbow pipe, some auto paints, a dryer vent, some pieces of mirror glass tiles, and an acrylic faucet handle...I wonder if the cashier is looking at my basket and thinking, "WTF?"
