Default Free RAM Protectors

I just finished stripping some components for one of my projects off of several dead motherboards a buddy gave me, and thought of something handy I wanted to share.

When I buy new sticks of RAM, they come with these nifty but bulky protective cases. After stripping most of the components with a torch, for fun I torched off one of the DIMM slots, and thought it could be used as a protector for spare RAM modules. A little more fiddling and I discovered you can just rip it off the board by hand. Start at one end gripping the clamp firmly and pull up. Once it's started, grab it in the middle to keep it from breaking and pull it free. If any pins come with it, just remove them with pliers.

There you go! Snap-on RAM protectors for free!

That's a good idea, but I don't have any dead motherboards with DDR connectors. I just save those black plastic boxes. One thing I just thought about, you could still transfer electrostatic electricity to the ram even in the slot, by the exposed sides, if you didn't have ram heat spreaders.

Unhappy No offense

ok...I guess I should explain. I am not trying to cause trouble and don't really feel that - rep points were needed but whatever.

I clicked the "fr33 Pr0n" button on SPECTRUMs response...I thought it was funny and was hoping to respond to him/her exclusively. I clicked the fast response on that post and hoped it would be clear that I was responding to his/her link.

Being one of my first posts I figured that when I used the quick response to a post inside a thread that that would happen. I guess i was wrong.

No offense was intended...I am a noob...dont' wreck me 4 it!

Honest mistake - everyone is pretty quick to negative rep around here. I will hit you with some positive maybe it will help.

EDIT: Wow, that seemed to cancel out all the negative rep.......cool.

Wasn't me - But I did get neg repped from ChicagoSlim. I don't see why, because I can guarantee anyone on this forum would be just as confused as I was.

I just left him + for being able to find the edit button and compose a polite explanation. More than a lot of people with 4 posts can do.
