Default PIMP My Fan Grill

Remember when laser cut steel fan grills were all the rage?

Heres a mod that will pimp out those old grills.

Heres a DIY pictorial of all the steps. Its pretty self explanatory, but if you have questions, lemme know

Crucial specs

Grill is 80mm, but you must cut 92mm hole in order for rim to sit flush inside hole

The wheels are from R/C Truck. Hotbodies Predators

Fasteners are 2" 10/24 machine screws w/ 1/4" alum sleeves and 10/24 acorn nuts.

The ABS plastic surface beneath chrome finish is a disgusting brown color once you cut it. paint it!

That adhesive glue is from Home Depot. Let it cure for 24hrs. Great product by GOOP brand

That is tight. Looks amazing, and fairly reasonable to do in terms of time and effort. What kind of costs for the racing wheel caps?

If we wanted to do this for, say, a 120mm fan, what scale would it have to be (if they even have a larger one than 1/10th) for the rim to fit?

Good question, I dunno. Find a wheel diameter around 4.72"

I wonder how well it work if you attached the hubcap onto the fan, rather than glueing it onto the rim of the grill. Then it would spin too just like a wheel!

Yea, something like the chrome "lady" spinners on Billy Lane's rear wheel on his "Bling" Chopper or the blades on the "Dixie Chopper" built by OCC. Hmmm
