Default Ubuntu Ultimate Edition

Some guy has created Ubuntu Ultimate Edition, a special edition of Ubuntu that has a ton of extra software included, such as Beryl, ipod support, and wireless networking tools. The torrent for it can be downloaded here.

It's not bloatware, it's shovelware.

Bloatware does in 500Mb what used to take 2Mb.

Shovelware is 500 different ways to do the same thing, each 2Mb.

I always liked Linux for the amount of useful stuff you get out of the box. It takes a second disc (packed with Firefox, OpenOffice, Gimp, and even utilities like 7-Zip and VLC) to get Windows to the functionality of most Linux distributions on one disc.

Here is a direct download link:

You may get a 503 error. Keep on trying and you'll eventually get the file.

Does it have an out of the box wireless support which knows what to do with a WPA network?

I tried Linux Mint and it had a "click the pretty button to install the Windows drivers", but the wireless controls didn't let you specify encryption.

DAMMIT!

I was trying to download this for the second time and once it reached 97%, I got a server error and the download was lost, even though I was using a download manager!

I may just order the CD.

And I thought ubuntu couldn't get any easier. What happened to building off of base distros and not building off of distros built upon distros?
Why not simply build off debiand and avoide calling it ubuntu in the first place? Maybe the coders for this must have gotten lazy and essentiaully built a livecd. Either way, thats just my opinion. (Same feeling goes for Linux Mint)

An example of a debian based distro that is similar to ubuntu, but not related to ubuntu AT ALL is Dream Linux. Look it up sometime, its very similar. (No Root Account )

So, since this thing runs Beryl, is it gentle on your psyche when installing video drivers? Specifically NVIDIA legacy drivers?
