The HDD image is eerily similar to the one used in MacOSX. But in the future I'll visit this thread again, that is when I finally get to using linux a little.

Edit: Is there a reason for why ATI has little to no support for Linux?

KDE eh? I have always been a gnome or fluxbox person myself.
Here is a gnome native alternative.

OOH OOH I think I know this one. Nvidia releases their own video drivers for linux while ATI has released little driver versions for linux. They just dont find it important I guess, which is their loss.

I read somewhere that because of the AMD/ATi merger things will change for the linux users. No reliable source but hopefully there's some truth to it.

Well we can hope. I hope that ATI catches up to nvidia on linux support because they are missing out on an untapped market having native drivers would make linux just that much more popular.

I've also seen GKrellM recommended:
GKrellM

You could also just use GDesklets with the appropriate applets running to get the same info, if I'm not mistaken

I hate to bash a company that I've never directly dealt with, but ATI is like any hardware company. They'll code where the money is at. If they know that 96.8888% of the market share is made up of red-blooded Windows users, they'll disregard that 4.2222% made up by Linux/BSD users. It's a mindset of "Who cares about them?" Granted, we all know that Microsoft falsifies it's market-share reports.
