| I think I really screwed up linux this time, I was updating drivers so I can use TV out (I used this driver), Well I got that all installed, but for some reason, I cant launch Konsole. I get an error saying KDEinit could not launch "konsole". I also cant launch ATI control. My Movies also have "white" around them (you know, in widescreen, its usually black, now its white) I also cant seem to run a root console either. Infact, I cant run ANY type of console. | ||

Knoppix, HDD install. It never did this before I installed ATI Drivers, and If I could remove them, I would. If I cant fix it, I'll just reformat. Crap, Looks like I cant even Open Open Office, and I need accsess to this kind of stuff. Is there a way to restore linux? If everything was working just fine before he installed the ATI drivers, couldn't he just edit the xorg.conf under display adapters from "FGLRX" to "vesa" and then see what happens? If he's had to edit it before for other hardware, deleting it and generating another could make a bigger problem than he already has.

Yeap, I think. It said run ATIconfig and then at the bottom it said run something initlization thing. It did have something to do with x11, and some config file
Nothing. I started up, but at the logon screen I chose command prompt login, logged in as route and did those commands. rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf gives me no such file or directory, xorgconfig says no such command found, restart x does work.
That first command after I had installed everything had something to do with fglrx, I just left it alone since I didnt know what it did.

| I think I got it. I booted to the command prompt, and ran aticonfg --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf I restarted and I can open a command shell again. It seems everything opens, but I still get the white around some movies (Im going to verify its realplayer and not my system in a minute) Ok, its only real player. If I could get realplayer movies to work with xine or kaffine, I would. Ive tried to get the codecs, but it gives me an error. | ||
