YAY!

so i reinstalld ubuntu (tho i used the 32bit this time..) and i got evertthing working in like an hour..

im really happy with it..
tho i dont know what all the stuff i got with automatix does.. im gonna figure that out tonight..

so now heres my next question..

since read/write to ntfs drive isnt really all that stable, i want to make a little 10 gig partition (fat 32 i guess) that i can share between operating systems for use with azureus..
i think that would work.. i just want to know what you think..

if i set off a 15 gig partition, formatted it fat32, kept my torrents, and the files i was downloading there, had azures bootup using the fat partition, and moved the files when they were done downloading.. would that work.?

meh..

thanks..
josh

My only problem with Ubuntu is the system usage that it requires. I prefer arch because it is light weight. In the time it takes to emerge gnome in gentoo, I could have gotten a full install of arch done.

I'd assume you used ext2/3 as your file system for your root partition in Ubuntu. If so it would probably just be easier to install this in windows http://www.fs-driver.org/ then to make another partition. It allows for complete read/write access your Ext2/3 Linux partitions.

so i thought this would be a good plan, but i noticed that since installing automatix, gparted isnt listed on ubuntu anyomre? any way to find it on my pc, or do i need to reinstall it?

search wont work, the add remove thing wont find it either..

i wanted to extend the size of my linux partition.. so i could get some good use out of it..

im having alot more fun with linux than windows.. so i need to work towards making linux more dominant on my system..

Yes, GParted may not be included on a default install, although it is on the livecd, but you can easily install it using the apt-get tool. Just type "sudo apt-get install gparted". Also after you went through the whole automatix stuff, did you let it keep the modified version of your sources.list? I would let it do this, as there is more software available via apt-get/synaptic when you have all the repos enabled compared to just the defaults.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I don't think you will be able to resize your root partition from inside Ubuntu, it's possible to do via command line, but GParted doesn't support this yet as far as I know. So you should use the live cd to resize the partition anyway, as the partition won't be mounted (or shouldn't be) when you boot into the live cd.

Ahh ya, the website is pretty much the last thing we will be working on. Basically we used the ROCK Linux build system, as it's a bit easier to build a distro with then using LFS, mainly because it uses scripts for just about everything compared to do everything by hand. Also it is extremely hard to integrate any type of package management directly into LFS and have it actually be aware of your base system, so that means you would never have updates to your base. We are still doing a lot compiling as it takes a long time to cross compile all this stuff. (We are compiling for multiple different architechures)

So what is the focus of this distro? Is it specifically for a purpose, or for learning purposes? I don't mind contributing (I'm sure you could use some compiling power, eh?) but I'd like to know more about it.
