If you're new to Linux, I'd recommend trying some of the more well-known distros, like Ubuntu/Kubuntu, Suse, Fedora, or Mandriva. They all have great installers, but use different package systems. I've had good luck with using RPM-based distros and using the package manager "yum" but you may want to try something else. Another good idea is (if you don't have a spare computer to use) get a live CD distro to try out before you install it on anything. Suse, Ubuntu, Knoppix, Kororaa, and a few others will run straight from the CD and let you play around without screwing anything up.

Let us know how it works for you!

Knoppix has alot to offer, maybe too much. Plus you can run it from the CD.
