| I must say, if you don't get more RAM on that machine then the only thing you will be able to run sanely would be a network install of Gentoo or maybe Damn Small Linux. Even then, I wouldn't dare go with a GUI - with 8mb of memory you basically have to stay in the non-graphical console mode. Personally, I would ditch that machine. | ||

| I know it's been a while, but I knew I had a link to a distro that ran off of 2 floppies and included X... After consulting the allmighty Google, I came up with this: 2-Disk X-window embedded Linux And it meets you system specs! If you try it, lemme know how it works. | ||

| I recommend you get a 2.5" to 3.5" hdd adapter and do the install on another system. You will need to compile a custom kernel and if you want a lightweight GUI I suggest fluxbox. EDIT You may also want to consider NetBSD www.NetBSD.org Last edited by thedemonxanth; 30-May-06 at 09:41 PM. | ||

| Apex Techie Lite | try floppix. i have a 200mhz machine with n32mb and it's still a struggle to find a small enough distro. you also have no cd drive which complicates matters but people ran linux back when that laptop was ma\de so you will find something. i tried vector linux, damn small linuix and slax. | |
