I need some help swapping out a hard drive.

I have one of my computers (Abit NF7-s, 2600 M Athlon XP CPU, 1x512 RAM, Ati Radeon 9250 video) with a tiny 4GB HD. I have a 80 GB maxtor that needs a format, and then I want to transfer all the data off the tiny HD, and copy it to the 80GB drive, and havet he computer boot from that.

How do I get the drive properly formatted for Linux, and how do I copy a working drive to it so it can replace the tiny drive?

Linux noob here, I would just format and install, but it is a folder, so I want to keep the down time to a minimum.

Nevermind! I am installing on the 80GB drive now, and will wait untill the current work unit finishes before removing the old drive.

Oh yeah, I am running FedoraC5.

try using norton ghost, it copies everything including the partitions. there is a ghost for linux too:
