Default Ubuntu keeps opening my cd tray....

Have anyone else experienced the same problem, and how did you fix it?
As my title says, after about 5 to 10 minutes of running ubuntu, it starts opening and closing my cd tray like crazy.....

Cool Re: Ubuntu keeps opening my cd tray....

Yes, this just started happening to me... I can find no explanation of it... I've just installed Ubuntu about 3 days ago, and the last 2 days it was fine, and this morning, it started...

If you (or anyone) has any ideas why this is happening and how to stop it, I would greatly apprecieate it.

Thanks.

And i ditched Ubuntu, and as far as I'm concerned, Linux and Unix needs to stay on servers LOL
I'm running Win XP on my 2 Desktops, and Vista on my Laptops, and Vista has surprised me, I've heard so much crap about Vista being slow etc. , well so far I'ts the best OS I've tried, no problems at all so far, and it's faster than my xp versions...

When I build me a file server, I'll probably try Ubuntu server version, but til then...nah

Works perfectly fine for me. Im still trying to figure out what would make the cd tray open and close on its own.

Not just opening and closing, it did it like it thought it was a ride at the carnival... I did get it to stop by putting my Ubuntu cd in the tray, it was like it needed it to keep it running, even though my installation was fully on the hdd....
Maybe that will help you figure it out...

I'm thinking it has a problem w/ the drive and needs to be reinstalled.

I have had a problem w/ win 2k once that did this and it was just waiting for me to insert a cd for something i installed because i had took the cd out before it was done installing.
