Default GParted problem (live ubuntu 6.10)

So, heres what happened.

i had to do a full wipe on my drive.

finally got everything kind of straight in windows, and decided to install linux.

well i decided to use ubuntu 6.10 as my main linux distro, since i knew it would work with my wireless card.

so the plan was to set up a 25GB patition for ubuntu
and then take out another 100GB for storage and sharing files between Operating Systems

well i got the ntfs partition cut down to size and then i put ubuntu on
when i tried to format the rest of the free space (ntfs) it took a dump somewhere

because of this problem my hard drive is actually parted as follows
45GB ntfs
~98GB unparted!!
25GB ubuntu
1GB swap

i need my hard drive back..
id hate to go through setting up windows AGAIN
which also means i have to go throu setting my bios up again, id have to roll it back to 1006 then step it up to 1011, then do chipset drivers, then step it up to 1016.. that is stupid
that would make the 5th time in about 3 weeks.
virus,
messed up first install with ghost disk
solid reinstall, but something was buggy with windows and bios
soild install then linux live gparted bones me

id love to get my hard drive straightened out, but i need g parted worknig, so my drive will be workning

anyways,
thanks alot

You can always download the gParted live CD (Just gParted and some disk utils) from here. It's a major pain in the papoose to deal with partitioning, but once you have one of these, you should be able to handle most problems. I find that using this disc is more reliable than Ubuntu's version of gParted.

ya i have partition magic, and i tried it..
but it still showed up the same..

i just resized it again and it magically fixed itsself. so its all good now..

after the formats were fixed i ended up installing the newest version of linux mint.
i think im going to go back to ubuntu tho. as for some reason my internet worked flawlessly when i had ubuntu.. it wont work at all after the initial update of mint.. seems to be a network manager / wireless card conflict.
