SecurityDot.net has reported that the binary
NVIDIA Linux/BSD/Solaris Drivers are vulnerable to a local bufferflow with which an attacker can gain root access on your machine.
The complete 1.0-8xxx serie is affected. The issue is fixed in the unstable 1.0-9xxx tree.
For protecting your machine until
a new patched driver is released securitydot.net recommends to better use the "nv" driver instead of the "nvidia" driver. You can change the used driver within your Xorg configfile (
/etc/X11/xorg.conf)
