Hello everyone and sorry for posting my "please help me" thread in the
pc "other" forum before I formally introduced myself and thanked everyone for inviting me in. My name is Richard and I brought home a compaq presario 1630nx about ten days ago. I've been away from computers for quite a long time (since prodigy in the early nineties and before that I was one of the kids strapping a 300-baud modem to a telephone receiver to cruise the bbs boards with my commodore 64). It's a long time to be away, but since high-speed dial-up alternatives have only been out for a couple of years, I actually wasn't missing all that much internet-wise. I'm trying to catch up on computer technology as quickly as possible and still can't believe the things I'm seeing, like 45,000-ft-range wireless routers and usb hard drives shaped like ballpoint pens and swiss army knives. I mostly use my computer for surfing the web and goofing around. I'll definitely by swinging by the site often, asking questions and hopefully contributing as well.
