I did enjoy writing that guide, but after reading it nearly 600 posts later, and after a namechange for the forums...it may be time to update it a tad. At the time of writing, I was being slightly generic with my terms, trying to make it applicable to just about any forum one might find. There are a lot more specifics I could get into regarding PCApex, and I would love to address them, especially after becoming a staff member. My only fear is that making it longer might exceed the attention span of our new members. I will take a look at streamlining what is already posted and adding new content...hopefully before I hit my 2K post!

I've been posting in Usenet, Bulletin Board Systems, and now web forums for roughly 20 years, and the same problems always boil down to treat people as if they were sitting across the table from you. I never had any idea things google or dejanews would come to life, but it's pretty frightening when you can trace back to 1985, look at your writing style, and praise dumb luck that you didn't let a having bad day make you like an idiot for posterity.

The technology for interacting changes, but people are pretty much the same.
