| Apex Techie Wannabe | Hi im new to this website. It looks really cool. I want to start building my first pc soon, and I'm just saving up for it now. I want to make it pretty affordable; around $350 not including the monitor. If you have any suggestions please let me know. | |

| Hi and welcome to PR! So, ready to build your first pc, huh? That's got to be pretty exciting. Just a few quick questions, though... What kind of background do you have (i.e., do you know the different types of mobo manufacturers, ram, etc.)? What is it you want to do with your computer? Gaming? Graphical applications? That would probably be a good start for us helping you out down the road when it comes time to pick your parts. If you haven't heard of it, there is a site called www.newegg.com that's a pc builder's best friend. Let us know, Rob | ||

| Welcome to PimpRig emberix! Well, looks like Rob beat me to the punch, but yeah...NewEgg is a great place to start. Some ideas on what your intended use is for the PC would help a lot, as a gaming rig requires more video card than a surfing rig. You may want to check out the Socket A based mobos, as the Sempron is about the cheapest thing going, but you can upgrade to a lot more CPU later. Best of luck with it. Wordbiker | ||

You might want to include some RAM in that list bro. ![]() EDIT: And an OS or license. Emberix, unless you're already planning on OCing, I'd go for a retail CPU with a stock heatsink/fan. The warranty is 3 years, and you can always upgrade to a better cooler later.

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Hi again, Yes, I do know about newegg.com and its great service. I do know about motherboards, their brands, their compatibility etc. I have read a book all about pc construction so i know how to assemble one. I am probably looking for a system to run on an Athlon XP processor on a decent motherboard. I would want to play modern games on my pc but i dont need opitmal performance. Thanks for all ur help and advice everyone. | |

You wont be playing ANY modern games on a 350$ computer, sorry. I hope you like counter strike 1.6. Becuase that along with quake 3 will be your best friends with a pc like that. I would save till $500; $500 can get you somewhere.
