Sorry for the delay to answer, this PC currently has a big problem that I haven't figured out. Windows pop up at random, several at once, sometimes it goes into Excel, which I haven't even USED on here since I reformated. I am working on upgrading my rig, little by little. Just bought a new case today, finally decided. Not sure how much modding I will do - am I gonna get booted for bordeom? I want to learn a lot more about PCs, all the way around, especially hardware, software, troubleshooting, a few more programs - like I plan to multi boot Windows2000, DOS 6.2 and FreeBSD when I get around to installing the rest. That's on one PC. The other one is gonna be my play toy, cause it's been heavily used by a clan of users for gaming and surfing, as much as it could, which I don't see how the hell they did much with 128 MB. And on dialup?? High speed should be like electricity in your home: everybody has it. Guess that's why it crashed all the time. Now it's MINE! I just got it, free, wouldn't even boot up, but it's cranking now, literally, it's one loud mf (I am gonna get booted for that?) Please tell me, k? It's a tower gateway with an Athlon, and lots of expansion capabilities. Oh yea, the other one's an overworked by a cracker HP, clean now, and humming, just waiting for a few more new parts.

Yup. Bought this one. Changed a couple fans, added some extra interior lighting, and 500 w PS. Gonna take the rest of the components out of my HPand use them until get more money to upgrade more. It's a micro ATX, Athlon XP2800 2.08 and has a super squeeler 250 PS that's going in the trash. Not reselling that crap to anybody and don't need enemies. Already bought new heatsink to replace the totally lame one overheating my system. There's a thread in case cooling.

Case arrives tomorrow.....

Overclocking? When I can see it run a hardcore load at a cool 40C, on full power for 24/7, it WILL get cranked. Hmmm, gonna be fun. Replacing parts won't be, so gotta see how it handles stuff first. You guys doing Folding here? MIne's on it 24/7, before that it was running really cool in the low 30's C, with all the low grade components it has even.

I also have another PC somebody gave me I'm gonna work on. I got it running, it needs some new stuff, a lot actually. It's a 133 MHz Athlon, 200 MHz FSB. Ok, what's this part mean exactly - its got auto speed control for 500MHz to 1.25 GHz, at 50 MHz increments? Its a socket A on an ATX, never heard of auto speed controlling. Gateway full sized Tower built in early 2001 on a 950 MHz board, 5 PCIs, bus mastering PCI 2.2 supported 33 MHz, 1.5 GH memory cap, MVIDIA GeForce 2 MX AGP, 20 Gig Seagate HD. Really lousy PS, 250 W and 128 MB memory??? right. The HD is a very LOUD cranker, it's probably gonna go? Too small anyway. But this one has potential. Runs really cool, and it was free.

This forum is cool, I hope, when you know basically nothing, people won't ignore you?? Cause I want to learn how to fix this rig up til it purrs. I don't know sheeet about modd designing, know a little about hardware.

Hey, I typed waaay too much in this thread. Pleeeze don't go away.

Got hella fine plan for the side panel, if all works out that is. Need certain type of paints you can use that don't crack, bleed or damage the case. If it all can work, I want to make a Memorial PC. The panel is gonna be painted with an eagle gliding over a giant lake, snow capped mountains in the background, with anicon of a snow boarder in a holigram type image covering the panel as a secondary background. A lot of blues, some rainbow colors too.

The rig lighting is blues and a little bit tri color to make it more interesting. It also has a light on the top, which is very cool I think. Probably needs more lighting, see how it looks. If there is a way to put a focused beam light, I want to put in a yellow one from the top to represent the sun. Have to look into this. And have mostly of the lake, so you can still see the components good.

Does this sound weird? I'm not even a painter at all, so hoping my friend will do it. She can probably paint on acrylic even better than she does on canvas. In memory of somebody we both knew, his dream was to live in Colorado and snowboard every day.
