I'm oh-so-obviously new here. Stumbled in through the great Exodus of the Admin/Owner's wife. (We work together). Got to talking about video games, and then computers, and then all the Mad Scientist Lab stuff he had going on in their house, and then here I am. I've been out of the game for some time due to financial restrictions from having kids, but I still keep up with the community as much as possible without contributing to it.

I'm currently running a horrid IBM Thinkcentre P4 that fell off a truck (well a friend left at my house a couple of years ago) Fortunately enough, it has been quite upgradeable. I fried my 4400 X2 getting too greedy in the voltage settings, so I'm stuck with this for the next few months until I can rebuild completely.

I've always been an avid AMD guy, but those Kentsfield Quads are smokin'. Prefer NVidea to ATI, although I'm currently manning a dinosaur Radeon 9200. I want to see a Phenom in action to hope that I might be swayed back to my roots.

It's nice to stumble upon this site, and I look forward to many nights of exploratory brain-screwing-workout.

may want to remember...

The Pimp Plague! -
There is no known cure!
Pcapex scientists attempted to extract user dna from
the first pimprig sock but to no avail!
The sock is known to be the original cause of this addiction and
pcApex scientists now believe the cure lies with the second sock.
However, the pcApex Elite are still attempting to track said sock and its owner
down!

The pimprig feather can be used to lessen the effects, but not for long periods of time,
and use of it also leaves some un-desired side effects such as;-

sudden fixation with dremmel use.
bondo sniffing.
Replacing transparent objects such as windows, skylights etc with modders mesh from mnpctech.com
Exsessive use of cold cathodes around the home.
and attaching dry ice pots, water coolin loops or massive heatpipe hsf's to ones head when
suffering from headaches etc...

Welcome aboard, man! Tonya told me to keep an eye out for ya! Do you plan on possibly starting a modding worklog?

I've never been really to much of a modder in the respects of some of the people I've seen on here. However I like to find bizarre compartments/containers to put rigs in. Things like stereos, lunchboxes, filing cabinets, anything big enough to shove an ITX board in. I'm more of a hardware junkie anyway than a case junkie. I will be starting a project as soon as I get taxes back, so perhaps I'll document that one. It's nice to find this place.

I think you'll find that quite some mods are based on the "how would a rig in that box look?" principle. And trust me, in a few weeks (or as soon as you started a worklog) you'll probably get a bit more ambitious about your mods.
After all, good hardware needs to be shown off and matched by its housing.
