Caught the typo, I guess this site is all about building chest muscles.

Welcome, new member. Your Acer monitor is adequate, but you need to upgrade that 7900GS so you can push that monitor like it is meant to be pushed.

Thats why I signed up

I have to agree with BA, a better GPU will let you push native res properly in games with eye candy on, I remember my old 7900GS couldn't even handle 1280x1024 on some games with eye candy on full.

...push it real good.

We are talking about benching that monitor to generate some larger pectorals, right?

Strange - I got ~118fps on Counterstrike: Source's video stress test. However I ran 3DMark06 at 1680x1050 and scored under 5000... I wonder if the switch to Vista had that much affect on performance... oh well, I was thinking about adding 2 more GB of ram and possibly a new GPU after watching how bad my pc perfomred on 3DMark.

You got a good score on the Source test because its an incredibly well built engine and scales very well with older hardware (HL2 and CSS run fine on my Moms PC, a 1.8Ghz Athlon with Geforce 440MX).

Vista will certainly be affecting your gaming performance, its a total waste of time and nothing more than a resource hog with security pop-ups every 10 fricken seconds.

4Gb of RAM will certainly be useful if you plan on lots of video editing and imaging work, but I can't really see games using that much (anyone correct me if im wrong). I frequently use Avid for video editing and could certainly use an extra 2Gb!

I have XP Pro and Ubuntu that run in virtual machines so I can login through my laptop on different OS's. I also need IE6 to check web pages when I change/add/edit existing pages as IE7 and IE6 render HTML differently.

Running two virtual machines pretty much crushes 2GB of ram - not to mention all the other programs I run on top of that - photoshop & zend primarily.

As far as UAC in Vista - that was the first thing I disabled and it took about 5 clicks. I haven't had any problems with Vista outside of the additional resources it uses. But I think that will be moot when WinFS comes out - and besides, what's the point of buying awesome hardware and having it just sit around
