Default I think this is the correct place to post this

Okay problem, my apartment complex is setup on Cable internet, i hate cable internet with a passion, i work the phone company here so i get a hell of a deal on 7M DSL well i'm tryin to talk my apartment manager into letting me install a 2nd phone line into my room so i can get it, but until he caves i need to hack into the router/modem they have setup its a motorola sbg940 and i wanted to know how to hack the POS so i can get my comp setup on port forwarding or at least DMZ hosting. Any help would be awsome, right now i'm locked out and can;t play any games online.

PS also i've tried the dummy admin passwords Admin : Admin and the complex name no luck.

Wait a minute....are you trying to get him to pay for the second phone line? If you are, then I can understand why he doesn't want it put in.

However, if you are paying rent and you want it put in, by all means, go for it. It's your apartment because you are paying rent. He would be able to assess damage charges once you move out but if you are able to document (i.e., photos) that in no way the apartment was damaged, he'd have a hard time trying to sell it in small claims court.

If you want it put in and you're willing to pay for it, there is nothing he can do to stop you. Renters have more rights than you realize although must apartment managers don't want you to know that.

well, i did a quick google, and it looks like the default password is motorola

most people are too stupid to change their router passwords if they arent into computers

and if that doesnt work, a reset'll do the trick for you, just remember, the manager might check and see that his router doesnt have the password he put on it

Heh i got permission from him tonight to install it so its cool and infact he kinda offered me a on call tech job for the apartments which i think would subsadize my income nicely. Still working on the modem issue however till i can get my HSI (DSL) running and the defualt password of motorola doesn't work so on to the 1-800 number approach. Unless someone can tell me a easy way to break the login name and password.

Edit: Rob actually legally he can stop me because its a permanant alteration to the structure so for a technician to come and install the the physical jack he needs permission from the landlord/manager to do it. I have to go through that with people all the time when they need work done to thier residences when its an apartment as far as making any changes to the structure.
