| Ok, i'm quickly growing unimpressed with my new jobs networking. Small businesses always have the worst setups trying to scrape by with as little money as possible in upgrades for critical systems. Anyway, the n00b that set up this monstrosity is running two locations on cable modems. Only one "store bought" router on our locations end, he's using the routers VPN config to port in the connection to the network over to the warehouse. ....did i miention they are running everything through quickbooks? *cough*cough*..... Well, the dynamic DNS software this guy is using on the network is aparently less than capable of doing it's job as i've been here all of two days and the warehouse has dropped off the network at least once a day, which is cutting them off from the databases they need access to on our end. Long story even longer...I'm searchin gthe net looking for something more reliable as far as dynamic DNS services and/or software. preferably free as this is a business that doesn't like to spend money. While I was searching i figured it would be a good idea to drop a line in here and see what you guys are using or ahve used in the past. I used to use DNS2go back in the day until they went pay, beyond that everything i've used has been router based on large scale WAN/LAN. | ||

| I used to use Deerfields DNS2GO until they started charging for services. Try www.no-ip.com I use them for dynamic dns and it works great and is free. Hope this helps. ![]() | ||

| I've was looking at no-ip.com already because i know some people that had been using it for a while. dns2go was great until they wanted money, lol, greedy bastages Was just looking to see what most of you guys were using, thought there might be something better than no-ip.com that i hadn't found yet. DynDNS doesn't look too bad, i'll have to play around with both and see which one is going to have better redundancy. I don't even want to get into the rest of the problems i've found with this network already, lol Last edited by 0v3rki11; 23-February-05 at 05:05 PM.. | ||
