![]() | I have a new laptop that I use on my office network and my home network (with different network names). My laptop has both wireless and wired connections available. I use the wired at the office and the wireless at home. The laptop uses WinXP Pro. I know I can set up profiles based on these, BUT can I set up different network names for use when I am at home vs. the office? Do I use profiles, or is there another way? If this is ridiculously simple, I'd appreciate a kick in the right direction. Thanks for any help. Alden Last edited by ABL; 31-January-05 at 11:29 AM. Reason: Add info |

| Apex Tech God | Should just be able to just go into network connections, click disable on one and enable on the other. Unless i'm missing something, it is that simple. My friends across the hall and next door use the schools wired primarily, but also connect to my WLAN for gaming and things without any problems.

![]() | Actually, I have different network names (I automagically deal with the different DHCP servers, already). To state it more simply: I need to be able to access files and printers on 2 different networks, each with different domains/workgroups. Perhaps, I am making this harder than it needs to be. Thanks, Alden |

The easiest thing to do might be to change your home network settings to work with your computer while its configured to work on the network at work.

I was gonna say that too. Easy fix, change the workgroup at home to the same name/settings as the work one IAAP.

Not really what I wanted to hear, but I know it will work. Just seems a bit silly. If I do this, will it affect anything when I try to set up a VPN from home to the office?
