I came home the other night after leavin my comp on 4 3 days straight downloadin sum stuff on the net then wen i came n tried to use the net it wont allow me 2. Also, i cannot share files between the 2 comps as well. I have it connected to my dad's comp through a network cable into our Billion ADSL Modem/Router. The net still works on my dad's and the cable is fine any ideas?

Sounds like your network settings got blown out (or a driver)

If you have sytem restore..try that (Win XP)

Maybe the Network card went? Sometimes thoughs freeky things happan!

What kind of stuff were you downloading off the 'net?

My guess is that he was warez'in sumthin and caught sumthin

well if he caught something then i guess he was either download PrOn or downloading something that he wasn't suppose to, anyway if you try this

Run-CMD-iprenew, that should take care of the issue at hand and if not then check ALL the connections in the NETWORK settings

NOTE: just what were you downloading

you don't get it from anywhere...

go start-->run. It asks you to type something. Type "cmd" without the quotes. A command prompt will appear type "iprenew" without the quotes. Press enter.

Downloading movies isn't condoned or any of that other crap.

Also, sounds like a virus. 3 days downloading and no scanning, you're screwed.

Try these commands that refresh your Windows IP Configuration:

Click Start>Click Run>Type cmd>Type ipconfig/release >Then type ipconfig/renew

Congrats...you just got some tainted goods on your computer, courtesy of the MPAA, through illegally downloading a movie from the internet that you didn't pay for.



My best bet? Best buy a new hard drive to replace the one you got. Some of that malware out there can be pretty nasty and permenently ruin your hard drive...which shouldn't have happened in the first place had you not be doing anything illegal.

maybe, who knows what is actually wrong with your computer. Like everyone else stated you downloaded for days and days without scanning for viruses. Not to mention you were downloading illegal copies of things that others have possibly had their hands on and quite possibly placed malicious content within.

And i know this probably isn't my place as i am new here, but i try to be watchful in what i post, and make sure it contains some sort of relavent content. But greekplaya you can't quadruple post and you shouldn't ask us "if this should work" when it has been stated several times to try it. So try it and you'll get your answer as to whether or not it works.

Sorry to any mods or anyone if i was outta place with that comment or rant, it hasn't been a good week and my patients is running low, especially to those that don't try things before posting.
