Default security settings prohibit ActiveX..

"Your current security settings prohibit ActiveX.. controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly."

Im trying to fix someones computer right now and this is what it's saying when I go to the windows update. Everything is at the lowest security and all the activeX plugins are enabled. Any one have a clue on what's wrong or going on here?

Windows XP with SP1 and internet explorer.

Also Firefox is installed and working flawlessly.

AFAIK, Firefox doesn't support ActiveX, as it is is somewhat seen as a security hole.

You checked in Tools / Internet Options / Security Tab / Custom Level Button? There's a couple buttons in there you need to set correctly.

Yup, I set them with the lowest security and that allowed them to install all activeX controls but I still get the same error. Anyone else?

Is he running a software firewall? ZA allows you to block AvtiveX also, sorry, forgot to mention it above.

She has a linksys wifi B router and it was running Zone alarm but I disabled the firewall and the problem is still there. Also Windows Firewall is disabled too.

EDIT: There is also a laptop on the same network and I just did a windows update on that fine.
