| I need to Confirm with email | The slowness is likely caused by the fact that you at one time used IE. There are a number of government agencies who have declared IE unsafe to use... Go to http://www.lavasoftusa.com and install the free version of Ad-Aware. Run the Updater, let it scan. My guess is that you have about 700 pieces of spyware running on your computer that are "quietly" stealing your passwords and transmitting your surfing habits to various companies that... want to know more about your surfing habits... You might also try reinstalling the very latest version of Firefox. | |

Now, on compressed transfers like ZIP files and, er, MP3s, the dial-up shows its butt, but on web pages, look out. Try using Spybot Search and Destroy. It found things on another computer at work, and a lot of them, that Ad-Aware wouldn't touch. It was having the same problems you describe with IE. If you forgot to install every single security update for Windows BEFORE having your computer hooked up to the internet, your computer gets a virus within 12 minutes... 34 hours I don't want to know how many. You have to install Service Pack 1a, and the patch for Sasser and the patch for Sobig (or alternatively just Service Pack 2) from a CD-ROM. Its impossible to download the appropriate updates from Windows Update without getting various worms and viruses before the download can finish. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
