Be a little more specific please Did this just recently start to happen? Have you tried scanning for viruses or spyware?

The slowness is likely caused by the fact that you at one time used IE. There are a number of government agencies who have declared IE unsafe to use... Go to http://www.lavasoftusa.com and install the free version of Ad-Aware. Run the Updater, let it scan. My guess is that you have about 700 pieces of spyware running on your computer that are "quietly" stealing your passwords and transmitting your surfing habits to various companies that... want to know more about your surfing habits...

You might also try reinstalling the very latest version of Firefox.

That problem has never happened to me. Check your computer for spyware.

Anyone that switches back to IE from Firefox is either retarded or being paid to do so.

Default Not for me

I've got the full 1.0 Firefox release in mine. Between it and a V92 / V44 connection my page loads simply rock. In fact, on HTML there is almost no diference in loads on my machine at work that is hooked to DSL and this. Now, on compressed transfers like ZIP files and, er, MP3s, the dial-up shows its butt, but on web pages, look out. Try using Spybot Search and Destroy. It found things on another computer at work, and a lot of them, that Ad-Aware wouldn't touch. It was having the same problems you describe with IE. The spyware was using so much resources and bandwidth that the guy s machine would not even work, now, no complaints at all.

Hasta...

If you forgot to install every single security update for Windows BEFORE having your computer hooked up to the internet, your computer gets a virus within 12 minutes... 34 hours I don't want to know how many. You have to install Service Pack 1a, and the patch for Sasser and the patch for Sobig (or alternatively just Service Pack 2) from a CD-ROM. Its impossible to download the appropriate updates from Windows Update without getting various worms and viruses before the download can finish.
