ICS reducing Speed while on FTP

i am internet connection sharing with XP and am looking at speeds of 20Kbps while downloading off of friends FTP
i am currently White @ss broke and haven't the money for a router
Looking for info and feed back as to how to make my speed just abit faster , any ideas guys

all posts will be looked at , and taken into consideration!

Enable passive mode in your FTP client settings.

Don't. It's not the most obvious setting and tends to work wonders for PC's with Intranet IP's.
