internet connection troubles

ok, so here is the problem. i downloaded XP sp2 (mistake), then uninstalled it, now IE, mozilla and SW galaxies wont connect to the internet, but aim will...my other computer that connects throught he same router (the one im typing on) works just fine...dose anyone know how to help me out?

No, honestly, I think it's because SP2 has a "new and improved" firewall. Whether that has anything to do with it changing your connectivity settings, I don't know. I had SP2 on my laptop and really didn't like some of the modifications they made so I reformatted the HD (was going to reformat anyway, not because of SP2).

Have you tried to re-install IE, Mozilla, and SW Galaxies again? Did you use a restore point before upgrading?

I have been using SP2 with no difficulties.

You can go into the control panel and click on the firewall icon at the bottom and choose to disable the firewall, or if you don't have firewall protection just use the setup and add all the programs that you want to connect to the Internet. Windows SP2 should pop up and ask you if you want to allow the program to connect.

I use Firefox, Doom 3, Quake 3, BF1942, UT2004 and they all work fine, but I did choose to disable the firewall since I use Norton.

I'd give SP2 a chance, you may just need to get into the firewall options before doing something as drastic as reformatting.
