Default Wireless Bridge?

Im looking to fix up my network. I have a linksys wireless G router a laptop on wireless and 2 desktops on wired. The problem is whever my dad wants to work from home he has to take the cable modem upstairs and plug it into his laptop(not the other one on the wireless network). I have no option to install a wireless a wireless card in my dads laptop. What do i need to buy so that i can put something upstairs by my dads laptop and connect it to the wireless network we already have. Do i need a wireless bridge cause i had an AP/bridge that i borrowed that i couldnt get to work(probably cause i configured it wrong). Any help at least do you understand what i need.

Most laptops come with a PCMCIA card slot, so you can add on a wireless connection.

Sounds like any one of those would work. A wireless bridge would connect to your existing wireless network and let you plug wired devices (like your dad's laptop) in. The other two suggestions would work equally well, and possibly cost less. I've heard USB network adapters take slightly more processing power than, say, that PCMCIA card, but you can often get USB adapters with a high-gain antenna (might get you a better quality connection).

No i cant add any devices to my dads laptop cause he doesnt have admin priveledges on it cause its his work laptop. So im pretty sure i cant add any hardware. How about one of these http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...124-008&depa=0 and one of these http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...315-008&depa=0 cause i need an excuse to get a print server and im not paying.

Looks like that'd work just fine. You wouldn't NEED the router / print server just to get your dad connected, but it'd give you more wired ports and (as you say) a good excuse for a print server. I assume you have your current Linksys router set up as a firewall, so you'd want to disable the firewall setting on your new router so that everything on your network can see each other.
