IE issue.

Trying to diagnose a IE issue on my Bro's PC. We open IE and pages will not load. It gets up to the 4th bar on bottom, then flashes. We cant get anything at all. He has went from AOL, too PeoplePC, and now Earthlink. I can't rule out a possible software glitch. His E-mail works, so i'm clueless.

what's his startup page? try to open the internet properties in the control panel and set the home site to about:blank if it's not already so..

Just an update, After awhile it says "cannot find server"

Run AdAware first, then Spybot S&D, then HiJack This. In that order.

I had a chance to get over there tonight. I tried to uninstall IE, and re-install it, That did not work. I then proceeeded to try and run Netscape and that popped a message saying that the server connection was rejected. He also gets 2 DLL errors at startup and I forgot to write them down. The more and more i dig the more issues the PC has. Plus he surfs porn alot! and he has not had virus protection for over a few months. Whats it take to teach a damn 17 year old to stay away from them virus infected web sites and also to have him buy a new antivirus?

you might be able to salvage his sytem by doing these steps..in fact this article is a must have tool in my opinion.

Sounds like its format and re-install time. Sounds like even if you could fix all the problems it would take longer then the re-install route - sometimes you have to cut your loses.
