| Ok, this might seem weird and complicated. I have a DSL line and a Cable line both runnin into my house and as of right now they are two seperate networks, what i need to be able to do is get content from one computer on say the DSL network to a computer on the Cable network, But this makes its more difficult i need the internets for both networks to stay with there computers. I have attached an image of a very crude drawing of my network at my house. Sorry for doing it this way, Adding attachments wasnt workin: ![]() I hopefully made it small enough for everyone. Sorry. | ||

| Apex Techie Lite | Ah, this is a simple one, but your diagram there leaves me lacking to what kind of devices ya got hooked up to your cable and DSL modems. First off, I'm gonna assume you have a combo router/switch hooked up to both modems, distributing to NAT. Here's where the fun starts, you can keep your one network from accessing the net throught the other connection by specifying the default gateway in each PC to the router IP you want that PC to go to for 'net access. To make everything 'play nice' ya gotta make sure the first router doesn't try and take the other routers NAT IP, If you can both get them to static NAT, that works great, removes the hastles of DHCP conflicts with getting IP's crossed. Now, for your two networks to communicate, make sure there on the same network, seeing as your probably already running NAT, your probably running 192.168.0.x for a network address, with DHCP gone, your gonna have to manually program all the IP info for each PC. As long as all the PC's are on the same network number, everything should communicate just fine. If ya need it broken down easier, just post again, and I'll re-explain in less technical speak. | |

| The easiest solution I can think off (because a I have a half dozen laying around): Install a second nic in the two computers you want to communicate and don't bridge the connectmessage=The easiest solution I can think off (because a I have a half dozen laying around): Install a second nic in the two computers you want to communicate and don't bridge the connections, USB NICs would make it a super easy job, almost zero configuration and can be easily undone. Wireless USB NICs would be the absolute easiest, set-up an ad-hoc network and boom, you're connected. | ||

| As mentioned before, this is actually easy. You want one PC to share / get information from both network. So on the PC that you want to get data from both network, just put two nics into it. This would come from router to that PC. To determine which line you go out of, make sure that router is set up as your gate way. Oh side note. I'm not sure what the DHCP you have for your network.. i'm assuming 192.168.1.x. If the subnet is the same, you will have to make sure that your gateway do not have the same IP internal IP address, and make sure the IP address for both network don't conflict w/ each other. I actually do not see a reason why you need to have two separate network. Is it becasue you want each network to be completely isolated from each other, or do you just trying to keep each network using a particular internet connection? Because you can very easily have both DSL and Cable coexist on one network and all PC communicate with each other. And to control which internet connection the PC use, woudl be easily as changing the Gateway it uses. Anyway.. let us know if any of this helps. SAD | ||

| Well, the point of this adventure is because the bandwith that both the Cable and the DSL provide do not live up to my expectations. as i am a hardcore gamer and anime junkie i am constantly getting new anime, but when i had only one service, my ping in games would explode, so as having the money as well as will power i decided to use two. In my little diagram i drew i actually got the DSL and Cable lines backwards (flip them) My box that i play on and the one that i have running to my TV and such are one one network and the ones that have all my anime (basic comps with big HDs in them are on my DSL . so that is my situation, when i had the only one network it was very frusrating because i could not do both at once, 2 Broadband Connection solved that problem, but brought a tiny one with it. So, as I have read i would need to Xfer the material from one network to the (connector) computer then Xfer that off to my other network. somehow that doesnt work for me, but if its the only way. or unless i am understanding you wrong. | ||

| Zero. In your situation, that easiest thing to do is combine both broadband to one network. This will be very easy. So lets say your Cable modem is .254 and DSL is .253. So for the PC that you want to leech anime, make the gateway .253.. for your gaming pc, make it .254. This only effects the path when the attempt to leave your network to the internet. As for communicating between PC on your network, each one can communicate to one another, (assuming you have shares setup properly). That is pretty much it, and would make the best out of your setup. Let me konw if that is a path you want to pursue. If so.. let me know and i can give you more detailed infomraiton on how to set it up. SAD | ||
