Default Charter Cable Modem woes

So i'm supposed to be getting 3mb download with Charter Cable's cable modem service, but for whatever reason it's very slow and not even near close to what i'm paying for. If anyone else has had trouble with Charter or knows of a way to possibly boost my connection speed up to what I should be getting just holler and it'll be much appreciated.

How slow is it? How are you measureing your speed? Have you put any splitters on the line? Have you called Charter?

To answer your questions, I tested the connection with the speed test on dslreports.com and my results were that my connection was getting 358 Kbps download and 112 Kbps upload which is well under what it's supposed to be. As for the splitters; there's a brand new 1 Ghz splitter right at the source that splits the tv off one way and the other connection is right to the cable modem. And your last question, I have yet to call Charter because I wanted to try and see if anyone on here could help me out with this before I need to fight with their tech support.

Here's another page to try:

dsltest.itol.com

Try downloading that file, let me know what the average download speed is in IE/Firefox/whatever browser you're using. That's another gauge of speed. DSLReports isn't necessarily 100% reliable, completely dependant on how many people are using that same path you're using. Try that and see.

Well, I ran that other test and it levels out at around 40 KBps, so it's still pretty terrible.
