You might want to specify exactly what you're trying to accomplish here, I'm a wee bit lost.....

sorry, I have a wireless network setup where I live. Right now I connect to that network through a wireless adapter. What I want to do is take my wireless linksys router and hook that up to my computer and use that to get online instead of using the adapter. does that make sense?

| Bettle - He wants to use his linksys router more like a modem... receive the wireless signals where he lives and then distribute an internet connection. Rjupiter - Yes it can be done.... but why would you want to do that? Do you have other computers you want to connect to the internet? | ||

Yeah that makes more sense, if you want to create a local network that you can access with for example your laptop. ![]()

| It sounds like he wants to use it as an extender. If it has bridge cabability yes it can be done. I would like to hear more on what exactly he is trying to do. Create a network, extend his existing network, or just go wired? | ||

| Apex Advanced Techie | the thing is I have an extra router, thought I would try and put it to use, and I have my computer and my 360 and soon to be PS3 all that I want to get online. Now the wireless connection is at the ass end of where I live I am on the other side. I get good signal with my adapter but my boxes not so much plus is seems slow/sluggish on all three. I was reading and a someone mentioned using his router would be better to pick up the signal for the boxes etc... I don't know if this is true so I thought I would ask those more knowledge in this area then I. | |

| If you would have stated that to begin with you would have had better responses sooner. If your router has a bridge mode you can use it as a range extender wirelessly. If not, your best bet would to get the longest network cable, hook up the router to your existing one, and move closer to your location. Hopefully the next room would benifit you. | ||
