Default Sound Issues on video in a browser.

Im running the current version of firrefox and have windows media player 9. I just got a new machine and had to do a fresh reinstall so I think im missing a driver or somthing alone those lines. Well the problem is when I start steaming a video on a webpage and want to skip ahead or repeat a part or move the progress bar at all I get video that is fine but the sound is not there, sound works fine if i leave the progress bar untouched. Anyone have a solution to this?

write down all the specs of your pc , video , mobo , ram , etc...

you may have forgot to install your video , sound or chipset drivers?

what type of internet connection do you got , high speed?

I had a problem like that once. I fixed it by installing a codec pack from free-codecs.com.

I believe i used the K-lite codec pack. This may not solve your problem but its worth a try. You can always uninstall the codecs if they dont work.

You may also consider upgrading to WMP10 or 11. I prefer 10 still because I get video issues with 11 (video flips upside down randomly and distorts).

you may not have enough speed from your internet connection?

as you may know anything over 56k they can call it high speed , like the 128kb/s lol

you can test your connection at my old thread
http://forums.pcapex.com/internet_ne..._download.html

direct link to test
Vidéotron : test de vitesse de connexion Internet - Internet connection speed test

or maybe it's a problem with the courent version of firefox?
or like 67_GTO said maybe try WMP 10 or 11 , did you?

No my internet should handle its 3.2 MBs. I cant get WM 10 or 11 right now unless I go through a hassle of making it work with my xp.... My other machine running this xp works fine so I was hoping there was an ez fix. I tried tons of codecsand drivers, always same problem.

NEW ISSUE
Another issue I found the other day as well with the WM player while streaming was when I have a game running and start a stream then maximize the game then tab back over to the browser the video is black, but sound is still there. Then when i move the progress bar sound goes and video stays black.

I will be receiving Vista Ultimate soon, so then I can get WM 10 mor 11 and lets hope that will fix the solution until then this is somewhat annoying.

Why you can't install WMP??
it's free you can still get the WMP10 & WMP11 but the WMP11 check to see if you got a genuine copy of xp.
