Default how to change multiplier?

Well I've read up on this a bit now and have come across a problem:
Soyo PV4DA (aka Mobocrap)........I was on a buget ok.

The bios setting doesn't allow you to change the multiplier, only the FSB freq. I'm thinking it would probably be a good idea to drop it down a ways and raise the FSB instead (at 100Mhz x 20 mult. right now). Seems kinda high and I've read that the higher the FSB, the better. Anyway, is there any way I can change the multiplier? Thrid party programs maybe? If not I think my overclocking is gonna be pretty limited.

Im gonna take a guess at that being a P4 board. Well if it is you can not change the multiplyer on it. All P4's are locked and can not be unlocked. Or so Ive read.

Yeah, Intel proc's have been locked since the P2 (I believe?). There's no way to fix it, just be content with a high FSB

Multiplier is locked; you can still adjust FSB and that is the most effective way of overclocking anyway.

The fact that you cant O/C worth a crap on the VIA P4X266A aside, is the CPU a 2.0 or a 2.0A?

Edited for typo doh!

Only engineering samples from intel are unlocked. A few reviews I have read used them, but unless you have friends at Intel, you aren't gonna get one

One more question. Is there any way to exceed the limitations the bios set? Mine will only allow the FSB to be increased to a maximum of 132 MHz.

Have you got the latest bios? If you do then maybe you can find a hacked bios, or have someone hack yours, but that is very risky.
I found this, Naked Review Don't know if this will help, I haven't seen this done with pentiums, I see it done on AMD's all the time, Maybe a Intel Pimp knows if this or another trick like it would work.

If you canna get anywhere with your turkey, save up and upgrade. I got an Asus A7S333 last christmas, Bios went to 166FSB but it had no voltage adjustments, useless for overclocking. I finally gave up, and got a board that does the trick, best $$ I ever spent on a computer part

Would OEM (origional equipment manufacturer) CPUs be considered engineering samples, or are they locked as well ?

Nope, engineering samples are not supposed to be used by the public. A few lucky magazine editors get them for testing purposes only.
If you have a friend at Intel, you can ask him, otherwise they aren't available to purchase anywhere.

*EDIT* Maybe you could find one on Ebay or something, but u are taking your chances!
