Default need a board for a P4

i have recently acquired a P4 rated at 1.7 GHz with 400 MHz frontside bus. i am looking for a MOBO that is 13X12 inches. it has to have a 10/100 LAN adapter. must also be able to handle PC1600 or PC2100 DDR SDRAM. really does not matter about video ram or anything else. except USB ports must be there. and there must also be integrated sound as well as the other integrated stuff. if anyone knows where i can find any of this stuff post the site here. i am also looking for a really good heatsink that will keep the CPU nice and cool. any info would be great.

thanks

Is it socket 423 or 478? What do you need it for? These might be silly questions, but you have to know for what application to recommend...

it is a socket 478. it is gonna be an all around PC. burning CDs watching DVDs. and gaming. gonna have DSL hooked up to it so i would like to have a LAN adapter hooked up to it. i am gonna have 512 MB of ram in it if i cand find some that is really good for a good price. there is really no reason that it has to be 12X13. it is recomended for the case that i am gonna use. i suppose that i can use a smaller one. it is just a matter of fitting the screw holes to the MOBO/case

1.7GHz Pentium 4's come in williamette core only meaning that you cannot use any Intel 865/875 motherboard because the v1.75 voltage is not supported. The FSB of 400MHz on the 1.7GHz P4 is also, not supported.

Scavenger, its spelled Abit IC7 MAX-3 . Other than the fact that that board is overkill, the IC7 will not support a 1.7GHz P4 as the core/voltage and fsb is not supported. 533/800 Front Side Bus are the supported speeds on Intel 865/875 chipsets.

For a processor such as yours, you should get an Intel 845 or SiS648 based motherboard such as the Abit BH7 ( $79 @ NewEgg.Com ) or the Abit SR7-8X ( $64 @ GoogleGear.Com )

Personally, I would just upgrade to a better cpu and get an Intel 865-based board, but thats just me.
