I love seeing this thread bumped. Slaymate always gets the nicest stuff! Go for it Reflux, I'd probably rather have the 9800GX2 if I wanted two GPU's.

Well I got the cards but I've been busy finishing up a review for another site today and yesterday I had to go to a Birthday Party/Cookout.

Overall these cards are just a mild improvement over my old 8800GTX's, at least as far as 3DMark06 is concerned. But as soon as I get the cash in hand from the sale of those 8800GTX's I'll be ordering a 3rd 9800GTX for Tri-SLI :-)

Here are the 3DMark06 scores I've gotten so far. I need to play with all the settings to tweak them up a little Higher. And I've been trying all the different Drivers I can find. So far I've tried the 174.40's, 174.74's and the 174.85's. Has anyone heard of any others? And I've got the 9800's oc'ed to 750/1200 atm.

19202 - WindowsXP - 174.74
ORB - Compare

18247 - Vista 32-bit HP - 174.85
ORB - Compare

I ran 3DMark06 using Vista 64-bit HP also but when I tried to submit the score Vista blocked it and I have to figure out how to unblock it :-( I'm not sure of the exact score atm but it was about the same as Vista 32-bit.

Hey man looks good. I got to play with those cards last month a few days before gx2 and 790i launched. They were fun but I was focusing on 790i and the GX2s. You got my info if you have any problems. Remember to register them as well (first 30 days for lifetime warranty)

Looks goood slay. Just a little photo tip. Looks like there is some light lighting there. Get a few more lights on the outside of your light box and turn the iso setting down try 80 or 100 and it will get rid of those speckles.

The mailman came with this today...

No idea who TwinTech are, but it was cheap. This thing looks like and weighs about the same as a house brick! Also, naughty nvidia, cards that exhaust hot air into cases are a bad idea.

I can't agrue with that. But I will say that my cards are running as cool with the stock cooler as my old 8800GTX's did with aftermarket coolers. If it poses a problem then I recommend getting one of these 250mm fans I just reviewed over at A4T. My system is running super cool considering it's all air :-) Here's a link to that fan review :-)

Your pic's look SWEET :-) I'm now wondering about the performance. When I had the 7950GX2's a single GX2 ran slightly slower than 2 7900GTX's. When you run 3DMark06 could you post your score at stock speeds and settings? I'll run mine at the same settings you post for a compare.

I get 18,500 with the card clocked at stock and my CPU @ 3.5ghz. Only about the same as I got with my two HD3870s, but ATi cards do better in 3dMark across the board. I'd expect you'll probably get a higher score as a 9800GTX has noticeably higher clocks, but the internal bridge chip on the GX2 does pretty well considering it usually manages to beat 2x8800GTS 512s, which run faster.

lawl.....i ran 3dMark earlier @ 675/2100mhz and expected it to melt, but the fan didn't even come on hard. So I'm going to aim for 20k.

Turned off SLi and benched it earlier...got 14,000....how I wish SLi doubled your score in 3dMark!

Good luck with 20K, should be doable. You might be able to make 28K in 05... I reckon thats realistic actually, when I had my 2900GT (before it died) it did 20K and the 9800GX2 is a hell of alot quicker.

Well my system doesn't like the numbers to run at 3.5GHz so I'm at 3.6GHz. Running WinXP Pro at stock speeds on my cards I scored a 19243.
ORB - Compare
I'll disable SLI and get you a single card score in a few minutes :-)

I scored a 15207 with SLI disabled.
ORB - Compare

And I'm using the 174.74 drivers. I'll run a few at 750/2450 and the shader at 1875.

1 card at 750/2450/1875 - 16458
ORB - Compare

I see....basically they're performing pretty similarly in 3DMark, if you account your faster CPU. That's interesting, but check this out.....
