2.53B P4 hitting a wall

Ok all,
I Just got my new Soyo P4X400 and new 512mb DDR 3200 by geil

I am runnning a 2.53b P4 right now....with air cooling (temporarely untill I get a new pump)

I can only OC it to 2.7 before I get either an NTFS corruption mssg or a Kernel corruption.

Does anyone know about/jave a Sy p4x400 I have a feeling I need to change the DRAM clocking..as it is only at 133...
I got my fsb to 141...

Any suggestions?

(I dont know if my temps matter...but i was runnning around 46 degrees C while @ 2.7 and that will definatly change when I get my TEC installed

)

That VIA based board does not overclock very well regardless of CPU, and coupled with the fact that 2.53 P4's dont have a good O/C track record, I dont think you can get much out of it, but with a Intel 865PE based motherboard it would have optimum chance to overclock the little it can.

I see three choices here, (1) stick to stock clocks (2) get a new board (3) sell the cpu & mobo then buy a 2.4C & Abit IS7.
To take advantage of dual channel ddr on the IS7, you would need 2 dimms of identical or matched memory.

People are getting 3GHz minimum on 2.4C/IS7 setups.

WELLLLL tek....I actually see in the Oc Database that the everadge oc for my proc is 3.1....so my hopes remain high....

Also..my mobo is nice sliver color

im bout to go soon with tek's set up but i prolly wont oc it to 3.4 maybe 3.0 and if i get good temps 3.2 but rly man you should go with C. not only does it have a 800 fsb its got a huge overclocking potentional. Tek told me that he can bring it allthe way up to 3.8 but hes scared to do so.

its crazy but his fsb is like 1100+.

thats sick.... You should go ahead and sale it and get the IS7-E and the 2.4c. But ofcourse if you just wanna play around with it just to get the exp and fun then i understand. one day im pulling my old rig and just gonna mess the hell outta it... maybe even fix it and use it as a server pc.

Just my 2p....

BSOD could be ram issues (corrupt swapfiles etc) - run memtest86 at that speed and check for errors.
