Ahh the beauties of overclocking an Intel...
But anyway, I'm not too sure on those top of the line chips (I don't know where you got that kind of money for a 2.53!) but I'm fairly sure they'll work just the same. The multiplier is locked on all intels, so you've probably got a multiplier of 25 (or maybe 24 since the 2.53 is an
FSB upgrade from the 2.4), which just makes things a little more simple in overclocking. The only way I know how to overclock is when you start up your computer, hit DEL, or F2, or whatever goes into your BIOS and there should be a section to change your Front Side Bus (
Mhz) and I think the bandwidth on your
RAM (but I'm not too sure because I've never messed with it...my motherboard is cheap).
So:
BIOS -> Change FSB -> up the
FSB from 100mhz in slight increments so you don't make it crash (if it doesn't start windows, lower the
FSB you set because it's screwing itself up). It's also good to know what temperature it's running so you're not overheating (if you're doing more than a minor overclock). It's been a while for me, but I'm pretty sure there is still a big links section here on pimprig where you could find numerous Intel
OC sites to learn the finer points of overclocking.
