Judging from a quick Google search, there are a few bits of information for overclocking dual processors. Not sure how many of those results are leading toward dual core, because I didn't investigate it much, but do a Google search and see what turns up.

Otherwise, wait for one of the overclocking experts here to shed some light for you.

From what i remember back in the day, it depended on what mobo chipset you were using and you had to oc both cpus to the same clock. This is what i can remember but I could be wrong. I think the Abit BH6 or something like that was the board with the desired Intel chipset and had the oc'ing options.

Typically dual PIII had little OC ability as most of these had a fairly lame BIOS, unless you can find a BIOS compatable with your mobo that you can burn then your stuck with the no OC..

THAT SAID, you can OC the PIII Compaq with memory... this particular board used PC600 (RDram) - if you happen to install PC800 - it'll run the whole board faster (MAKE SURE YOU put some type of cooling on this memory, as 1 it's expensive and 2 it'll melt.)

if its the high end P3's, then the Athlons of the time would have been the prefered overclocking material (with goldfinger). Dual CPU boards were also not intended for overclocking...more server/workstation purposes. I could be completly wrong though.

This is true, most Dual CPU boards were for 'servers' and typically that would not even need a clock speed option on the Bios (as mine doesn't have)

It depends on your mobo but generally dual CPU systems were servers, meaning they need 100% uptime and therefore the most hardware stability possible so generslly no OC. I have a Super Bros board that cant OC at all dual PIII 600Mhz in it now.

Had another though as I had thought to do this to my Dual PIII board -
Dual Slot 1 from Compaq had a riser system which would give you a total of 4 ZIF sockets so realistically you could put 4 1.2 PIII on a Dual PIII slot 1 board, with no issues, Also, if you using Rdram, they have risers for those as well, allowing for 4 slots per slot, but with my particular board that would not be worth it as it has a max memory of 2GB and you could get 2GB in the 4 onboard slots.

possible? yes. easy or practical? no.

most P3 dualies were OEM or made by intel thus you had no overclocking options.

Again you can ebay for a dual 370 board from a company like asus but they still sell VERY well and sometimes for a good one they still fetch $100.
