Default Overclock RAM Beyond DDR400 on Asus P4C800-E Deluxe?

The title pretty much sums it up. Just got this new motherboard and I cant figure out why Asus would make a board that cant handle ram frequecies above 400mhz. I am trying to overclock my p4 3.4 ghz but whenever I do the board underclocks my ram. For example, right now I am running my proc at 225fsb (~3.8ghz) and it underclocks my ram to 150mhz to give it a ratio of 3:2. Anyone know how to force it to keep a 1:1? My old board was the MSI 875p and it could do it just fine. Thanks guys.

Does it have ratio in the bios like 5/5 or 6/6? That would force it to run 1 to 1.

By leaving it in "Auto" it will pick something safe would be my guess.

You probably have your rams clock speed set to "auto" somewhere in that bios(I'm not familiar with that bios btw), try setting it to manual.

Read your motherboard manual as well, sometimes you find settings that you initially weren't aware of.

Also.. it would be nice knowing what RAM you have...

Edit: Necro beat me, and I just read your sig, so nvm. Damn dial-up.

Lemme restart my comp and check bios again but as far as I know I can chnage it from auto to speeds but not ratios. The ram is in my sig. Its actually ddr500 but I am already underclocking it to 400 that way it can keep up with my processor and stay stable. Its that OCZ EL Gold DDR500 VX 2-2-2-3.

EDIT: My awesome choices for RAM is as follows: Auto, 400, 320, 266 [/sarcasm] Just read your edit so I guess you didnt need me to tell you my ram

Look at this review. Your motherboard obviously has 1:1 settings somewhere, it would do you a lot of good to read the manual through.

Then you would probably need to put the ram on Auto.

With Auto enabled, and the 1:1 ratio enabled, your ram should run in sync with the FSB.

Ya thats how it worked with my MSI. I'll give it a looksy. I figured their would be alot of people here with this board who could tell me real quick how to do it.

Already flashed but good thinking

EDIT: Just found some good stuff at OCZ website

Tips
Populate DIMM slots 1 and 3 for Dual Channel operation.
Set memory speed to 400MHZ for 1:1 FSB/Memory operation.
Disable TURBO mode at 200MHz in the event of system instability.
Adjust AGP voltage to increase voltage to the chipset to aid in overclocking.
Set memory burst length to 8.

I'll try it out and report.

OK setting it to 400mhz works, I think that is pretty lame of Asus though, youd think setting it to 400 would make it run at 400 and their manual doesnt mention any of this. Thanks for your very fast help guys.

Cool beans man!

So, did you notice a performance difference when overclocked now that you are running the memory at a true 1 to 1, like with before and after bench tests?

I don't know what you're bios looks like but it seems to be becoming more and more of a trait to have something like "400 mhz" speed or "333 mhz " speed in the bios instead of the actual dividers.
