Default OC my system? Setup inside! Please assist =D

Hi everyone,
I'm new to these boards, but I've been living at this site for a long time reading reviews and opinions on everything, and because of this site, was able to piece together my gaming rig. I love you guys ^_^

Here are the basics:
Processor: intel Pentium 4 640 Prescott 800MHz FSB 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116197
Motherboard: ASUS P5AD2-E Premium
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131516
Ram: Geil 512Mbx2 DDR2 533 PC4300 Dual Channel Ram
CPU Cooler: Zalman CU-7000 unit (i think thats the model #, its that round copper heatsink, had good ratings, i'm sure you all know which one i'm talking about ^_^)

So my question is how should i go about figuring out what settings to set my BIOS settings at if I want to overclock?

I've heard that you have to run PRIME95 for days to stress test your processor, but how to you determine what FSB to set your BIOS at?

If someone can give me a detailed rundown on what I should, I would really appreciated it. With a 3.2 Ghz stock, I'm hoping to clock it up to about 4Ghz, and upgrade to liquid cooling if I must. Stock temperature are around 40 C.

Thanks for everyone's help

The FSB Speed you need is 250 (250FSB x16Multiplier=4GHZ)

You will need to get familiar with memory and voltage settings, they usually need to be tweeked for stability.

I use Folding@Home to test for stability..we are team 596

Currect FSB set to 240 with a Core voltage at 1.55 ... left all the other settings in "Auto" and I dunno if that's good or not. Didnt change the DRAM frequency nor voltage either. It seems to be stable. With ASUS probe its showing 50C (which is quite a temperature jump from the initial low 40's, is there anything else I should be aware of?

FSB now at 250 with a core voltage of 1.6, and temperatures at are 60C is this safe? how do you tell stability?

Seems you should probably be doing some more reading before doing anything.

60C is probably the Highest you should go, but I would stay under that.

To tell stability just run Prime95 or F@H or something of the like and see if it crashes after a few hours.

thanks, I shall do so and see how my processor holds up. If anyone has experience with this processor, please post them ^_^ or experiences with this motherboard as well

60c is load for the stock intel coolers. So 60c with an after market cooler overclocked isnt half bad.

Of course adding a 120mm fan to your case would proabably drop it down a couple degrees.

It did with my case.

Also, you may seem to be "stable", but you might want to run some benchmarks to be sure. I recommend Prime95 and 3dmark05. Good luck!

Edit: I see Tizakit already told you about Prime95
