P4 3.6 - Idles at 2.8GHz.... Help!

Hi all

Well recently got my new p4 rig, consists of:

Intel P4 3.6Ghz '560' 775
Asus P5AD2-E Premium
1GB Crucial 4200 DDR2

It is all up and running, however my cpu keeps on idling at 2.8ghz, and goes up to 3.6 when i'm using it. I know this because ive used cpu-z, and then used super pi and it goes to 3.6ghz.

I want to disable this. It has nothing to do with my temps, as i have a Freezer 7 and the temps are 36oC Idle.

This is how the new P4s keep cool they slow down. It kinda sucks im not sure how to get rid of it. There is an article on Toms Hardware and a video of how it overheats when its left at 3.6

Oh right, Well if its that bad then i guess i may have to leave it. Surley i can play games though, in say...4-5 hour periods at 3.6?

I had a problem simular to that. o.O When I upgrade from my 2.4C to the 3.4E it show me running at a defualt speed of 2.8ghz. I was pissed. I couldnt figure it out. I messed with the BIOS forever. Then started doing some nitty gritty research on the 3.4 . Turned out my BIOS ver. was out of date. All I had to do is flash the BIOS and bam, my multiplier was corrected and put me back to 3.4 '-'

IT pays off to learn all you can about the hardware you have.

I think that Asus board has the AI nos(Non-Delay Overclocking System, I think). Go to the bios and disable it.
