Here is a link I found look like a good idea. And asus made it.

ASUS

Pentium M on your Socket 478 platform

There is the info for those that did not know more info with linky
LINKY HERE WOW !!! lots of links HERE

looks cool wonder if I can use any heasink fan combos? LINKY

EDIT - NEV_PAYNE - other sites tend not to like picture stealing...and links will surfice...not a 3000 word essay.

Elitelilnoyd is them an to talk to - he has the p4c800e (not sure which version) with the CT-479 and a Dothan clocked at the 3GHz mark. SuperPi does 20 somthing seconds to 1M? Very fast...and games are good aswell.

yeah i read on the asus site that when a 533fsb dothan runs at fx-55 speed(mhz)it's actually a faster chip
i ordered a 2.0ghz instead of the 2.13,the price was 425.00 compared to 675-700.00 for an xtra 130mhz.

but it does look like i might have to mod my tdx waterblock slightly to accomodate the floppy power cable.
i hope i can run it stable at 3ghz.it should where the asus article said 2.7ghz was on the alum hs & 3k rpm fan......

i was double checking pics from the links posted with the adapter mounted on the mb
and it looks like i might not have to mod the top of the block......it's gonna be close
it's said someone is making a 479 desktop board with the 915 chipset for ddr2 & pci-e support

Will it be able to use dual channel memory?

This sucker would kick FX-55 ass if it had it!

it can utilize all of the chipset's capabilities thats why its such a powerhouse.all the tests in the article were compared with the 855 and 865pe chipsets.the 855 mobile chipset only has 4x agp,ddr266 single channel memory and no raid.now the 865pe of course has 8x agp,ddr333(dual channel)and raid(although the tests were done with one raptor)i haven't seen any benchmarks on the 875p chipset with ddr400 though.

chip landed and boy is it small .
i may need to do to my block what asus did to the heatsink. (gasket support border)

this is a pic from an article for the h/s that comes with the CT-479
to show the gasket border support. maybe i can remove it and swap it to the water block.

3 more days for the CT-479

okay it's in and working good so far

i took a razor blade and carefully scraped the support gasket off the hs and stuck it to the cpu pcb.i also notched the gasket to indicate the gold arrow

next i mount it to the CT-479

now i believe i am screwed as far as watercooling it because it will not fit
between the mounting screws for the waterblock,so i put the intel basket back in
and lock down the adapter

i'm actually gonna get a machinist at work make me two spacers that will have pins on each end
so i can fit them to the waterblock mounting holes

but now i've got an email into asus because the bios supplied doesnt show
cpu voltage settings so i'm not getting past 2.5ghz due to unavailable voltage increases
hopefully it's a bug and maybe a reflash will take care of it
so until then......

ps........ @ 2.5 it kills my 3.4E @ 4.1

benchies later ......

Nice man, you may have to use a vcore mod on the adapter to get a higher voltage, some guys on XS had to do that. My 400fsb 1.8 dothan runs 3.1ghz on that crap heatsink all day long, I just modded a bigger fan to it.

Good luck bro, I wanna see some 3dmark benches before my new card comes (ATI X850XT)...
