My first overclock on new rig

I just overclocked my new rig and these are the temps i got
Running a 3.2e @ 3.84
CPU- 38C/100F
Motherboard -30C/86F

i think these temps are very acceptable for this rig i was wondering what everyone else thought

Intels OC very nicely, a 3.8GHZ CPU costs a ton more than your 3.2, Congrats!

Those sound like Idle temps, wich are pretty good, but the real important number is how it handles 100% load. It is not unusual to see then new "Prescott" cores like yours reach 60-70c under load

Try running Folding@Home and let us know what the temps are after an hour or so of running

Thats right on the money man, nice job.

I bet your mobo is holding you back more, or maybe your ram cause I got a 3.0 E to run stable at 4.0 gigs and toping at 4.2 Had to give 1.756 volts to the core and alot to the chipset to do it as well.

Keep it up, and your temps are very good.

my ram is running at stock speed never overclocked it as i am not to sure on how to do that but will try the Folding@Home if some one could direct me to the download of it

also has anyone heard of this

For overclockers, Prime95 has a feature called "Torture Test" that allows maximum stress testing on the CPU and RAM. There are several options allowing the stress test to focus on the memory, processor, or a balance of both

Yea prime 95 and Sandra CPU burn in test are great to use, but I always like 3DMark 2001 SE loops because it stresses an "in game" like sim and if it can run that it can run Counter Strike.

Give it a try, its free. Google futuremark and see for yourself. And also google Sandra and d/l that.

this is my 3Dmark2001done at stock speed not the best but once i get my 9800 pro it will improve big time i am also thinking of water cooling this baby

Ok sorry about the mistake but i am getting a Hercules 9800 XT this week end for a very good price just under $200 so when i get everything hooked up i will repost my scores and i was also wondering what would be a good heat sink to put in system as really dont like the intel one provided with cpu any help on the heat sink would be greatly appreciated was thinking about water cooling but that will have to wait for later up grade thanks for taking time to read post .

if you look at the post i only state once in it i would be switching to a 9800 pro vid card and i am sorry if i changed my mind and decided to get a Hercules 9800 XT because of such a good deal i am getting on it .
Also if you look I never ever did say i was getting a Sapphire ATI Radeon X800XT PE
And also yes my sig says Asus 9550 Gamers Edition because that is the card i have at present I am not about to lie about what is in my rig if I was then why would I join a forum like this I am sorry you are confused but if you read the full post you will see what I was trying to explain have a good day
